Very collectible vintage turntable in good condition at a great price, you won't be disappointed! Otherwise, everything looks and functions good. It is missing it's 45 RPM adapter barrel for the spindle but other 7" / 45 RPM record center barrels will fit. The cabinet and platter along with tone arm, stacker and switching all show light normal handling marks but overall this unit is very, very clean. This unit has had it's RCA connection cable (2 into 1 mono signal) replaced but all other circuitry and wiring otherwise appear factory original. The badges and switch faceplates on this early 1950's Garrard are all beautifully stamped engraved brass, the wiring and soldering is all hand done and meticulous, the switches feel solid yet quiet and smooth, and the feel and finish of everything oozes quality! It even still has it's original factory inspection tag affixed to circuitry underneath!Įngland's Garrard Engineering & Manufacturing company has been in business almost 300 years (WOW!) and started out making and repairing the crown jewels of England and over the centuries branched out into fine jewelry, precision military artillery optics and somehow ended up making phonograph turntables back in the 1930's (which quickly became the highest regarded phonographs in the world). This unit was recently lightly serviced and functions good.
